Modern Warfare 4 Season 1: how the Battle Pass and BlackCell work

What is free, what is paid and how multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone experience moves the 100-tier track, with the two free weapons, BlackCell and what the official post does not say.

On November 5, 2026, the official Call of Duty blog published a post explaining the Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Battle Pass system, the BlackCell bundle and the season's store bundles. It is a lot of information at once, with many tiers and item names. So the SequeLariCOD team summed up the essentials in our own words, to help you understand what is free, what is paid and how progression works. The site's rule stays the same: we only write what the official post says. When the source does not give something, such as the BlackCell price or the mid-season date, we say so instead of guessing.

What the Battle Pass is

The Battle Pass is a track of rewards you unlock as you play. In Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 it has 100 tiers and, according to the post, more than 100 rewards. The experience that moves the track forward comes from three places: multiplayer, DMZ and Call of Duty: Warzone. In other words, players who only play Warzone also advance in the same pass. A useful detail: double XP tokens are paused while you are outside a match, so token time is not wasted sitting in the menu.

There is an automatic catch-up system for late arrivals. It only applies to owners of the paid pass and brings the player up to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50. The post mentions more than 50 rewards guaranteed this way. Paid pass owners also get a 10% XP boost for the whole season.

What is free

The most important part for anyone who does not want to spend anything is the two free base weapons on the track. The first is the Cronen Osprey, an assault rifle unlocked at tier 16. The second is the CSG-35, a submachine gun unlocked at tier 36. Both are already on SequeLariCOD, with their category, the season they arrived in and changes from the official patch notes, and you can open each one from the links at the end of this article. The post also names each one's Apex part: Cronen Helix Mk.II on the Osprey and CSG Crossfire on the CSG-35.

What the paid version includes

The post lists four ways to access the full track: the Battle Pass itself, the Battle Pass bundle, BlackCell and the game's Vault Edition (for the Vault Edition, you need to log in during Season 1). The prices given by the source are 1,100 COD Points for the pass and 2,400 COD Points for the bundle, which comes with 20 tier skip tokens. These tokens let you claim rewards further along the track: bundle owners can jump ahead up to 10 tiers, and BlackCell owners up to 20.

The rewards are almost all cosmetic: weapon blueprints (versions with their own look of weapons that already exist), operator skins, weapon charms, reticles, emblems, calling cards, stickers, sprays, loading screens, DMZ survival kits, double XP tokens and COD Points. Operators with skins on the track include Blix, Oh-Ji, Velikan, Min-Hee, Simone, Luca, Valen, Dallas and a classic US Special Forces skin. The track has 23 weapon blueprints, for weapons such as the Kastov 762, Signal 50, Han 86 and Mosin-Nagant, which closes tier 100.

Players who complete all 100 tiers receive, among other things, Blix's Vantage skin, a rifle blueprint called Blue Viper, 200 COD Points and a DMZ armor kit. The post also promises eight operator skins as a bonus for completing the pass, unlocked when Season 1 Reloaded begins. The date of that mid-season update is not in the post, so it is not on our calendar yet.

What BlackCell is

BlackCell is the most complete version of the season. It includes pass access and instantly grants the XERO operator, an M4 Mastercraft blueprint, 1,100 COD Points, 20 tier skip tokens and a DMZ kit, plus extra skins for several operators, seven blueprints of its own and an exclusive multiplayer lobby scene. Challenges unlock two more XERO skins and M4 blueprints, along with a set of its own camos. In DMZ, BlackCell gives a few convenience perks, such as an extra vendor slot and daily rewards at the base. The post does not give the BlackCell price, so we do not show a number here. The source only says that players who bought the pass and later upgrade to BlackCell on the same platform get 1,100 COD Points back.

Store bundles

Besides the track, the post presents eight store bundles for the season, sold separately, with operator skins, camos and weapon blueprints, some with special firing effects. Their prices do not appear in the post. Since they are separate purchases and do not affect pass progression, we prefer not to promote any of them.

Before you spend: SequeLariCOD tips

Everything the paid pass offers is cosmetic or a convenience: the track's base weapons are free for everyone. So you can enjoy the whole season without spending anything. If you are under 18, talk to your parents or guardians before any purchase, and remember that consoles and stores have spending controls, explained on our Play safe page. And watch out for scams: nobody gives away free COD Points through a website, video or message. COD Points only come from inside the game or the platforms' official stores, and no outside site asks for your password to unlock real rewards.

What the post does not say

The source leaves out: the BlackCell price, the store bundle prices, the exact dates of the end of Season 1 and of Season 1 Reloaded, and any split of the track into pages or sectors. When Activision publishes any of these, SequeLariCOD will update this article and the calendar, always with the source link.
