Modern Warfare 4 DMZ: a Hajin guide, from threats to vehicles

Our own guide to Hajin in DMZ based on the official post of 10/05/2026: the 13 major locations and each one's threat level, how threat rises, enemies, vehicles, what to look for on the Tac Map and the F to S++ grade.

On October 5, 2026, the official Call of Duty site published the first part of its deep dive into Modern Warfare 4's DMZ, called Tour of Duty. It's a field guide to Hajin, the mode's map: regions, threat levels, enemies, vehicles and the places marked on the Tac Map. This article, written by the SequeLariCOD team in our own words, sums up what helps most in your first deployments. Part two of the guide, about the base and progression, already has its own article on this site. The numbers below come from the official post; the post doesn't give the map's size, so neither do we.

Hajin split in two

Hajin is divided between North Korean and South Korean control, and the AI enemies belong to a secretive faction on the northern side. The guide says the map has more than 60 named locations. The northern side lies to the west, with the prison, the air base and the abandoned township of Deadtown; the southern side covers the center, north and east, with Hajin City, the hospital, the nuclear plant and the riverside neighborhoods.

The major locations and the threat level of each

Each major location has one or more threat levels, on a scale from Low to Medium, High, Critical and Extreme. A summary of the thirteen main points:

  • Political Prison (northwest, North): high, and critical at the Citadel, a Y-shaped block.
  • Chang-san Air Base (west, North): critical outside and extreme in the underground bunker, which is larger than the surface base.
  • Deadtown (southwest, North): low to medium, an empty farming township with sewers, clinics and gas stations.
  • Imjin Farmland (south-southwest, South): low to medium, flat rice fields and a mill that works as a high position.
  • Cheongun Village (north, South): mostly low, by the river, with a dark underground level where night vision goggles help.
  • Mirae General Hospital (north central, South): low, close-quarters fighting between wards.
  • Cheonwang Peak Array (center, South): medium, on a summit, with a rooftop helipad.
  • Haneul Nuclear Reactor (northeast, South): high and radioactive; requires radiation gear and a gas mask.
  • NuriGO Mall (northeast of the city, South): medium to high, with a dark underground mall.
  • The Grid (city center, South): critical, and extreme at the Nenshin Tech complex; the business district behind razor wire.
  • Songdo Wharf (east of the city, South): low, with a lighthouse, a pier and an amphibious landing site.
  • Wolves Stadium (south central city, South): medium, a ruined baseball stadium and an open-air theatre.
  • Hajin River Heights (southeast, South): medium, apartment blocks and narrow streets.

How threat goes up and down

The threat indicator sits under the compass and only tracks how the AI soldiers react, not other players. Being loud raises the threat and brings reinforcements; staying hidden, using cover and keeping your distance lowers it. When the count of downed hostiles fills up, the game sends a Hunt Squad after you and you become marked. Enemies may ignore you, search for you or engage you, depending on how much of a threat you are.

Who you'll meet in Hajin

Soldiers come in four tiers, from the regular grunt to the best protected, with armor and a gas mask. Besides them there are drone swarms, drones with machine guns, four-legged robots that usually stay underground, helicopter patrols and road convoys. The bosses are Lieutenants and Commanders (Colossus, Deathstalker and a battle tank), and, of course, other players' squads. One enemy type is listed in the official post as classified.

Vehicles

In DMZ, vehicles need repairs and fuel, handled at gas stations; Warzone doesn't require that. On land there's a camper, a sedan, the Grizzly, the Dreadnought, the Polaris Dagor A1, the LTV, a cargo truck and a radar truck that works as a UAV. On water there's the RHIB, and in the air the combat helicopter. The train, the monorail that loops around the city, the heavy chopper and the Monarch, which handles exfils, aren't piloted by players (the heavy chopper only rarely).

What to look for on the Tac Map

The Tac Map uses letters from west to east and numbers from north to south; the guide's example is square D7, which is Imjin Farmland. The most useful marked places:

  • Gas stations, including marine ones: repair and refuel vehicles and boats.
  • Fire stations (red): radiation gear and parachutes.
  • Police stations (blue): military gear, a locked armory and a rooftop view.
  • Clinics (green): medical loot, but watch out for ambushes.
  • Exfils: green smoke, helicopter, Fulton balloon or flare; they can be ambushed too.
  • Ammo and armor caches: usually in Compounds, with a cooldown after use.
  • UAV towers, SAM sites and Lieutenant hunt towers: side operations that pay and reveal positions.
  • Bounty Stations: where you pay off or hunt a Bounty.

Earning XP at your own pace

The guide recommends starting with looting: opening containers is a reliable XP source, keys open special rooms and a locked door usually has another way in. DMZ Orders teach the mode, Dynamic Operations pay out Supply Drops of rising rarity (common, uncommon and rare) and side operations are lower intensity, like repairing trucks or climbing radio towers. Hunting Lieutenants pays more, but picking up their Dog Tag Case shows your position to everyone. And keep an eye on the clock: the radiation storm closes in, and you need to exfil before it does.

Your grade at the end of a deployment

After each deployment, the report shows what you gathered and gives a grade from F to S++, combining objectives, combat and looting, with the XP for each part. That XP goes to your DMZ level, from 1 to 70, and the Operator's Dog Tag climbs through its 18 levels, from Steel to Onyx III. DMZ is rated for ages 17 and up, like the whole game, and has voice chat with strangers: before playing, check our Play safe page.
