Anyone who played Black Ops 7 over the past year reached Warzone Season 1 with a natural question: what happens to the weapons, Operators and looks earned before Modern Warfare 4? This guide, written by the SequeLariCOD team, answers it based on two official Call of Duty posts: the announcement of the Operator skin filter, from September 24, 2026, and the Warzone Season 1 overview, from November 2, 2026. At the end you will find the links to check everything at the source.
The short version
Nothing you earned disappears: weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stay in Warzone as Legacy weapons, and the Operators and looks from those games also remain available from Season 1. What changes is how the older weapons work, since they now follow their own rules.
What Legacy weapons are
According to the official Season 1 post, weapons from previous games, from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7, sit in a tab called Legacy inside Warzone's loadout menu. You can still pick them for your loadouts, but they cannot be edited in the Gunsmith, the game's building bench. In other words, the Black Ops 7 weapon you used becomes a ready-made option, not a base to build from scratch.
So that nobody is left behind, the post explains that each Legacy weapon will have a version with five attachments already on, plus blueprints with the builds that already existed. These Legacy blueprints start locked and are unlocked with player XP, in the Armory. In practice, regular players will open the built versions little by little, without repeating each weapon's challenges.
What Legacy weapons do not have
The same post lists what is left out for older weapons. They have no Mastery camos or reticle challenges, do not accept weapon customization or cosmetic changes in the Gunsmith, and are not part of build sharing by code. So if your goal is to complete camos in Warzone, the path now is the Modern Warfare 4 weapons, which got their own weapon Prestige and Mastery camos in Warzone.
- Staying: the weapon, the five-attachment versions and the existing blueprints, unlocked with player XP.
- Going: Gunsmith editing, Mastery camos, reticle challenges, customization and cosmetics in the Gunsmith, and build codes.
- Where to find them: the Legacy tab in Warzone's loadout menu.
What about Modern Warfare 4 weapons?
The new weapons are the heart of Season 1. The official post says all 33 Modern Warfare 4 launch weapons are in Warzone from the start, along with the ones arriving during the season, and that they also bring Apex attachments. These weapons can be built normally in the Gunsmith. On our Weapons page, each Modern Warfare 4 weapon shows its class, when it arrived, the changes from the official notes and, when there is one, the Apex attachment guide.
Black Ops 7 Operators and looks
Black Ops 7 Operators also stay in Warzone. The September 24 post says Operators, Operator skins and weapon blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 remain available from Season 1, including what you already earned or bought. The Season 1 overview completes the list with calling cards, emblems, emotes, sprays, parachutes and contrails from those games.
One important detail: Call of Duty itself corrected that September post. The first version said weapon camos from older games would carry over to Warzone, and that was wrong. The corrected text only mentions Operators, Operator skins and weapon blueprints. If you saw the old information somewhere, the official correction is what counts.
The Operator skin filter
The feature that drew the most attention was a filter called the Operator Skin Toggle. When you turn it on, Operators from other games used by other players appear to you as Modern Warfare 4 Operators. This applies to opponents, party members and squadmates, in the lobby and in the match. Your own Operator does not change, and the filter only affects what you see: other players still see the look they picked.
The filter is off by default. It is handy for anyone who prefers a more uniform look in matches, and it takes nothing away from anyone: if you like your Black Ops 7 Operator, you can keep using it as usual.
Black Ops 7 on SequeLariCOD
Since Black Ops 7 weapons and Operators stay in Warzone, the site keeps that content complete. By our count using the site's data, there are 64 Black Ops 7 weapons, from launch through Season 06, and 43 Operators, each with the official post it came from. In each Black Ops 7 weapon's window, the “In Warzone” line reminds you that it comes in as a Legacy weapon, and each Black Ops 7 Operator's window explains that it remains available. Black Ops 7 maps are on the site too, along with Haven's Hollow and Avalon, which arrived in Warzone during the Black Ops 7 year.
Team tips for the transition
- Open the Legacy tab before you jump into a match and check which five-attachment versions you have already unlocked.
- If your favorite weapon was from Black Ops 7, look on our Weapons page for a Modern Warfare 4 weapon in the same class to practice building it in the Gunsmith.
- Want new camos? They are on Modern Warfare 4 weapons, with their own Mastery in Warzone.
- Prefer matches with a similar look? Turn on the Operator skin filter in the settings; it only changes what you see.
- Be wary of anyone promising free weapons, Operators or looks in exchange for a login or password: that is a scam, and nothing you earned needs to be “recovered” outside the game.
Summary
Black Ops 7 has not left Warzone: its weapons sit in the Legacy tab, ready to use and with built versions unlocked through player XP, and its Operators and looks stay with you. Modern Warfare 4 weapons are the ones that get the full Gunsmith and the new camos. With that in mind, you can enjoy Season 1 without losing what you built over the previous year.
